Delivering permanently affordable & community-led homes

We bring together leading networks of non-profit housing organisations, housing cooperatives and community land trusts that are spearheading innovative non-profit housing solutions across Europe. Together, we deliver community-led and community-owned homes that stay affordable for the long-term.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. By coming together, we demonstrate that collaborative housing is not an aspirational alternative, but is an integral solution within today’s mainstream housing system, and a rapidly scaling approach to delivering quality, sustainable housing for all.

What is collaborative housing?

Community stewardship

Residents and local stakeholders actively shape, own and manage homes and other community assets, which includes shared gardens, community spaces, local businesses and anything else that contributes to a thriving neighbourhood.

Permanent affordability

These models keep housing affordable for future residents by limiting speculative price increases through mechanisms such as separating land and building ownership, capping resale values, using long-term land leases or adopting cooperative ownership structures.

European scale

Collaborative housing exists in rural and urban settings, in areas under housing stress and those facing depopulation, in every community, context and country in Europe. Together, we bring together what works so it can be replicated and scaled beyond a single project.

We believe collaborative housing can transform how Europe develops, owns and governs its homes.
